Fried Rice Recipes That will Make you Popular

Looking for some great fried rice recipes?

The fact is that fried rice is available in several styles. In China, it is generally seasoned lightly with some salt with a little bit of soy sauce or even another oriental sauce, and even some small amounts of meat. In the Chinese-American tradition, you’ll find it made with bigger chunks of meat, and much more sauce.

The secret about making the perfect fried rice is texture. We need rice that has a distinct grain, one that has a chewy fried exterior along with a very tender bite. You will want grains that are separate enough from one another in order to taste and enjoy the texture, but yet sticky enough for you to pick up little clumps of it with chopsticks or a fork.

You will find that most fried rice recipes request Chinese-style rice with medium-grain, although there are Thai-style versions that utilize jasmine rice, and the popular Japanese-style fried rice is often made with short-grain rice that is used for sushi.

You will find that long-grain rice varieties will be the least desirable, as it will fall apart a bit as it is stir-fried and it also lacks the plumpness that provides fried rice with its signature tender texture.

Most chefs will tell you that these are a preferred list of rice types to be used for frying:

Jasmine: This is medium-grain rice of a Thai origin that has provides a perfect level of stickiness and individual grains. Jasmine rice will also provide its own brand of aroma to the kitchen.

Medium-grain white rice: This is the type we will see mostly in popular Chinese restaurants. Like jasmine, the rice of medium grains has wonderful great balance. They have strong individual grains, but will clump very well also.

Sushi rice: This Japanese-style of rice has superb short grains and is stickier than your typical medium-grain rices. This will make it more difficult to stir-fry without having some clumping, but it does provide the chewiest texture of the three, which is certainly a good thing.

Japanese-Style Fried Rice (*Chahan*) recipe | is no better use for leftover rice than chahan. A brief trip in a pan resurrects the grains and a few pantry ingredients—little more than eggs, oil, and salt—transform tired rice into a super-satisfying meal. To give the humble dish a little flair, I whip up a saucy broth filled with vegetables and shrimp and pour it on at the last minute. Of course, you can add any ingredients you like—peas or asparagus, kimchi or Japanese pickles, pork, or even, as I do at Morimoto Napa, duck confit. Japanese-Style Fried Rice (*Chahan*) recipe |

Agree with others that precook the rice and cool it down (put in fridge for a day even) before doing the fried rice. Also, we LOVE the spicy mustard sauce our local Shogun uses. Easy Pasta Recipes for the Busy Lifestyle

Everyone loves having several easy pasta recipes to use in a pinch when life gets crazy. Busy families often fall back to these kinds of recipes when they need to throw something tasty together for dinner at the end of a hectic day.

I can remember when I was a kid and my mom would fill the crock pot with the ingredients for some delicious pasta sauce. She would add onions, tomatoes, mushroom, tomato sauce, and often add several ground meats like beef, pork, and turkey.

After we got home, the house was full of aroma from the simmering pasta sauce that had been slow cooking all day. Mom would then begin boiling some linguine or angel hair pasta. She would have either me or my sister to begin grating some Parmesan cheese.

Mom would then slice some French bread and cover the slices with grated cheese, garlic, and butter. She would then toast these.

All of this would come together about the time my Dad got home. The four of us would then sit down for a delicious pasta meal – where our pasta was smothered with delicious flavorful pasta sauce and we had a nice crunchy piece of garlic bread to go alone with it.

3 Amazing Shrimp Scampi Recipes that Blow Your Friends Away

When you start using these amazing shrimp scampi recipes, you will understand why people absolutely love this basic dish.

In general, shrimp scampi is typically a pasta dish where several different types of pasta are used as well as different kinds of shrimp. It is more likely that larger shrimp are selected for this dish although it is really a matter of preference as some actually like using popcorn shrimp in these recipes. In addition to the shrimp and pasta, the cooking in these shrimp scampi recipes will usually include ingredients like garlic, butter, and even a quality white wine.

Many people consider shrimp scampi to be somewhat of an elegant dish, but the actual fact is that the recipes are very basic requiring only a skillet for shrimp and a pot for your pasta. Then the butter is melted in the skillet, and then the peeled shrimp is sautéed in that skillet. When the shrimp start taking on that pinkish color and they cook, additional ingredients are also added to create a sauce. One popular recipe for a sauce calls for using lemon juice, some white wine, and then adding some green onions along with some finely chopped parsley. Since shrimp cooks fairly quickly, the sauce is also cooked quickly.

Obviously, the shrimp is the main ingredient of shrimp scampi; the pasta that is used will provide lots of texture and greatly adds to the dish’s visual appeal. Angel hair pasta and linguini tend to be the preferred pasta options, even though spaghetti and egg noodles can also be used as a nice bed for the shrimp scampi and sauce.

All we have to do is look at the reasons why casseroles have become so popular in our kitchens and among home cooks. When you understand the allure and cooking and eating them, then it is easy to realize the advantages they provide.

Probably the biggest reason for cooking casseroles is the convenience and flexibility they provide to hectic lifestyles and busy families. This is because you can cut up and prepare all the ingredients ahead of time and then mix them up and pour them in a casserole dish. They usually cook in around 40 minutes or more – which gives the family time to settle in from their busy days before sitting down for dinner.

The next benefit they provide is also similar to that of a Crock Pot. And that is the long steeping of flavors from the various ingredients. This is what great casserole recipes do for us.

Most of us love making casseroles, and they provide a great way to experiment a little with different flavor profiles using various meats and veggies. And the fun part is trying out different spices and cheeses. Let’s face it, one of the best things about casseroles is the gooey cheese on top.

3 Healthy Gnocchi Recipes

Gnocchi are actually soft dumplings that are typically made from semolina, normal wheat flour, eggs, variety of cheeses, potatoes, breadcrumbs, some cornmeal, or ingredients similar to these. It can be used with or without seasonings or flavorings of various herbs and spices. The dough that is used for gnocchi is usually rolled out, and then it is cut in small pieces that are about the size of your thumb. After that, the gnocchi are pressed down with a fork to create ridges for holding sauce. Or some people like to just cut them into small lumps. Gnocchi are typically enjoyed as a carb replacement for pasta in a first course, but they are also served as a side dish to other main courses.

Like other Italian meals, healthy gnocchi recipes have lots of variety and different names in different regions. For instance, Lombard and Tuscan malfatti (which actually means “poorly made”) are prepared with ricotta, spinach and flour, along with a variety of herbs when required, which is very similar to Tuscan gnudi although it contains much less flour.

Gnocchi are usually cooked by themselves in boiling salted water and then dressed with different sauces depending on preference and the type of recipe. Some gnocchi is made from slabs of cooked polenta or even semolina, which is then spread out for drying and afterwards layered with butter and cheese before finishing in the oven.

Ricotta Gnocchi with Spring Vegetables Recipe gnocchi is made with potatoes, but this easy recipe uses fresh ricotta cheese. For the lightest, most tender gnocchi, use a good-quality ricotta like Bellwether Farms or Calabro and gently but thoroughly pat it dry after draining to remove any extra liquid. Gnocchi with White Beans dish was outstanding exceeded my expectations. I followed the recipes almost exact. One difference was in a separate skillet I put a tablespoon of olive oil and started cooking the gnocchi by themselves ( about 5 min ) while at the same time in the main skillet I was cooking the onions/garlic. This allowed more room in the skillet for the gnocchis to get nice and brown on all sides. I then added them to main skillet with the onions/ garlic and continue to follow the recipe . Gnocchi are enjoyed as a main course, when it is an alternative to pasta or soups. They are almost always homemade in Italian homes. They can also be purchased fresh from certain specialty stores. Some Great Rice Recipes

In the Far East, we see that white rice gets eaten pretty much every day and even during each meal. It is looked upon as a sacred food and even gets consumed during lots of religious activities and festivals. This is the cause for other nations as well. Those of us who love rice recipes, we can understand the attraction.

Rice is a great addition to almost any meal. It goes great with virtually any type of vegetable or meat. And rice complements most any sauce, gravy or broth as well.

Let us check out some great rice recipes.

Southwestern Rice Recipe | Taste of Home“This rice is really tasty. The only thing I changed is I used a 15 oz. can of petite diced tomatoes and a 4 oz. can of mild chilies. It was easy and tasted great. I’ll definitely be making this again. It was even better the next day. Enjoy!” Southwestern Rice Recipe | Taste of Home

Parmesan Rice – Spicy Southern Kitchen rice can be kind of boring and it is not one of the more popular side dishes at my house. But Creamy Parmesan Rice is a whole different story. The creaminess factor together with tons of flavor from Parmesan cheese and garlic elevates this rice dish to a crave-worthy side. Parmesan Rice – Spicy Southern Kitchen

Garlic Butter Rice – Spend With Pennies garlic thinly then cooking it until golden and crispy is optional but honestly, I think it is the crowning glory of this rice. It doesn’t add strong garlic flavour, it’s more about adding crunch with sweet garlic flavour. Keep the slices whole, as pictured, or crumble it up and disperse it throughout the rice. Or for a shortcut, you could use Crispy Fried Shallots or Garlic that’s sold in jars at Asian stores and some supermarkets. They are so good, I always have a jar on hand – I use them in salads, soups, imagine the possibilities of what you can sprinkle it on! I even use it on pasta! White Rice Helps Stabilize Blood Sugar Levels

For some people, this is very weird because white rice is primarily starch and pretty high on the ol’ glycemic index. This glycemic index is typically used to give foods a score based on how they will influence blood sugar. We know that high glycemic foods like fruit juices, sodas, sweet breakfast cereals, candies, breads and even white rice, can actually spike blood sugar levels much more easier than other kinds of foods. If left unchecked, high blood sugar will eventually lead to excessive weight gain and even type II diabetes.

However, there is something that is never said about that glycemic index. It is actually a calculation of how specific foods affect blood sugar when a given food is eaten by itself. The key point here is that no one ever sits down to eat white rice by itself.

This is certainly not the case with most people. It is always eaten with other foods, and those foods are things like vegetables, meats, fats and even bone broth. Eating these foods with white rice actually slows down your body’s digestive process which prevents those nasty blood sugar spikes which occur as a result of consuming high glycemic foods without eating anything else.

This is why you should consider adding rice recipes to your kitchen.
